The 2017 MIT Alumni Leadership Conference, which takes place September 15–16 on MIT’s campus, will connect hundreds of like-minded alumni who will swap ideas, share volunteer advice, and strengthen their connection to MIT. MIT alumni and volunteers can register today!

This year’s schedule features session ranging from volunteer best practices to exclusive updates on MIT’s Campaign for a Better World. The keynote lectures will feature research discoveries from MIT faculty and current students who will share personal stories from their time with the Priscilla King Gray Public Service Center.

Still not convinced? Here are a few more reason to consider attending this year’s ALC, which aims to strengthen MIT volunteers’ connection to the Institute and to one another.

  1. Celebration. Friday evening’s Leadership Awards Celebration will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, open bar, and special ceremony honoring MIT’s most dedicated volunteers. Plus, ALC will close with a reception at the beautiful List Visual Arts Center.
  2. Faculty Talks. Saturday’s closing keynote, “Urban Science and the Future of Cities,” will discuss today’s changing built environment and feature associate professors Sarah Williams MCP ’05 and Jinhua Zhao SM ’04, MCP ’04, PhD ’09.
  3. Exclusive Updates. EVP and Treasurer Israel Ruiz SM ’01 will share an inside-the-Institute update on MIT’s innovation ecosystem and Dean for Student Life Suzy Nelson will share her vision for student life and learning.
  4. Learning—and More Learning. The two day-schedule includes topics dedicated to both specific volunteer roles and skills that will help all volunteers.
  5. Something for Everyone! No matter your role, ALC can help you become an even better ambassador for MIT.
  • Education counselors can hear directly from current students about today’s MIT.
  • New volunteers and recent graduates can access MIT resources that can help build their career.
  • Fundraisers can perfect the art of negotiation and learn more about the Prospect Management Tool.
  • Tech Reunions planners can find new ways to engage your classmates and grow attendance.
  • Club and group leaders can learn more about alumni data and new membership models that can new members.

Registration for ALC closes Wednesday, September 6. Campus-area hotels are offering discounted rates during ALC weekend. Space is limited and the room block will end in mid-August—reserve your room today. We hope to see you back on campus this fall!

Teddy At MIT

While attending MIT
Teddy joined a fraternity
The one he chose was Theta Chi
Since they’d support him if he’d try
It’s easy to lose perspective
When things are so competitive
He’d study hard he would not rest
To learn it all became his quest
This goal is a common mistake
Which brothers would help him forsake
The fraternity’s helping hand
Was what helped Teddy understand
What’s more important is to care
And share love like a Teddy Bear
